o professor e a aluna, Shiraz

- O que é que se consegue quando se fica feliz?, sua voz era uma seta clara e fina. A professora olhou para Joana.

- Repita a pergunta...?

Alcoi, "entre moros i cristians" - exército cristão

Um exército de ovelhas liderado por um leão é capaz de derrotar um exército de leões liderado por uma ovelha.

When no one is looking, I swallow deserts and clouds and chew on mountains knowing they are sweet bones! When no one is looking and I want to kiss God, I just lift my own hand to my mouth

"as gémeas de Shiraz"

The Twins

In form and feature, face and limb,
I grew so like my brother,
That folks got taking me for him,
And each for one another.
It puzzled all our kith and kin,
It reached an awful pitch;
For one of us was born a twin,
Yet not a soul knew which.
One day (to make the matter worse),
Before our names were fixed,
As we were being washed by nurse
We got completely mixed;
And thus, you see, by Fate’s decree,
(Or rather nurse’s whim),
My brother John got christened me,
And I got christened him.
This fatal likeness even dogged
My footsteps when at school,
And I was always getting flogged,
For John turned out a fool.
I put this question hopelessly
to everyone I knew—
What would you do, if you were me,
To prove that you were you?
Our close resemblance turned the tide
Of my domestic life;
For somehow my intended bride
Became my brother’s wife.
In short, year after year the same
Absurd mistakes went on;
And when I died—the neighbors came
And buried brother John!

O rapaz do "croché", Etiópia

Will you crochet?

Will you crochet in the park?
Will you crochet in the dark?

Will you crochet on a plane?
Will you crochet on a train?

What about the dentist chair?
You can crochet anywhere!

Will you crochet while at church?
It won't leave you in a lurch.

Will you crochet in a car?
Will you crochet in a bar?

What about the picture show?
Tell me. Tell me. I will go.

Will you crochet at the gym?
How 'bout just a little trim?

Will you crochet on a walk?
Will you crochet while we talk?

Will you crochet with a friend?
Teach them. Teach them. Start a trend!

Yes! I crochet here and there.
I will crochet everywhere!

"Feiticeira", Etiópia

Feiticeira

De que noite demorada
Ou de que breve manhã
Vieste tu, feiticeira
De nuvens deslumbrada

De que sonho feito mar
Ou de que mar não sonhado
Vieste tu, feiticeira
Aninhar-te ao meu lado

De que fogo renascido
Ou de que lume apagado
Vieste tu, feiticeira
Segredar-me ao ouvido

De que fontes de que águas
De que chão de que horizonte
De que neves de que fráguas
De que sedes de que montes
De que norte de que lida
De que deserto de morte
Vieste tu feiticeira
Inundar-me de vida.

Irmãs, Marrocos

Brother and Sister

"SISTER, sister, go to bed!
Go and rest your weary head."
Thus the prudent brother said.

"Do you want a battered hide,
Or scratches to your face applied?"
Thus his sister calm replied.

"Sister, do not raise my wrath.
I'd make you into mutton broth
As easily as kill a moth"

The sister raised her beaming eye
And looked on him indignantly
And sternly answered, "Only try!"

Off to the cook he quickly ran.
"Dear Cook, please lend a frying-pan
To me as quickly as you can."

And wherefore should I lend it you?"
"The reason, Cook, is plain to view.
I wish to make an Irish stew."

"What meat is in that stew to go?"
"My sister'll be the contents!"
"Oh"
"You'll lend the pan to me, Cook?"
"No!"

Madagáscar, é malgaxe este sorriso...

Dá-me um sorriso a brincar

Dá-me um sorriso a brincar,
Dá-me uma palavra a rir,
Eu me tenho por feliz
Só de te ver e te ouvir.
